Happy International Women’s Day! On bonus episode #76, Sarah Burke announces the Women in Media Podcast Network and introduces the founding creators!

What first began as a single podcast where media personalities could share their stories and celebrate their successes without judgment, now holds a guest list of 75 incredible women and gender-diverse individuals and has bloomed into a collective of aligned minds. This led to the birth of WIMN, an organization dedicated to empowering women through podcasting, content creation, and education within a supportive community.

Huge thanks to Bree Rawn who designed the new Women in Media Network Logos!

Burke’s vision for WIMN is more than just an advocacy group; it's a movement. “It's about transforming the media landscape into a diverse and equitable arena where women's voices are not just heard, but are influential,” explains Burke. “The media landscape is in a perpetual state of turbulence right now, and I’m excited about empowering creators with newfound freedom from the organizations they were once tied to, and the power to make decisions regarding their content.”

Multi-platinum, award-winning singer, songwriter, actor, author, and podcaster Jann Arden is the host of one of the network’s flagship properties. She says, “I am so looking forward to going on this epic adventure with Sarah's network. It's so interesting how life puts you in the path of other creators, and these collaborations are what it is all about. Sarah has been such an inspiring part of the Jann Arden podcast and I'm so glad our journey will continue forward with Caitlin Green and our new home!”

Says lifestyle celebrity and TV pioneer Debbie Travis, who hired Sarah as a producer when her network was in conception, “I am thrilled to be part of Sarah’s Women in Media Network. After thirty years of working in the business of media, I know what it takes to succeed in this exciting and ferocious world. The platform Sarah has created shines a light on women who inspire, women who are struggling, women who are role models and women who are unafraid to speak their minds.”

Adds Travis’ co-host, celebrated interior designer Tommy Smythe, "By every available measure, my media career has been proven to be powered by a strong and savvy female demographic. In service of the women who have supported me in media for nearly 28 years, I’m proud to be a part of Sarah Burke’s Women in Media Network. Sarah is the gold standard in podcast production and packaging, so it stands to reason, WIMN will set new standards in equity, inclusivity, and women’s empowerment, which as history has shown us, enriches us all. I am very proud to be invited to enter this exciting new space with her.”

Burke plans to expand the network with a special dedication to help eliminate financial barriers and empower Black voices, Indigenous voices, and other voices of colour.

The Women in Media Network is a natural extension of the Women In Media Podcast, where she invites fellow women in the industry to explore the collective triumphs and challenges they experience in the spotlight. Influential guests in entertainment, sports and social media share personal stories surrounding topics like entrepreneurship, bullying, motherhood, diversity, and inclusivity. Recent guests include Andrea Bain of CTV’s The Social, syndicated radio host Dani Stover, and fellow podcasters Alex Bennett and Jordyn Woodruff of the Mean Girl Pod.

Burke’s commitment to this cause is not just about challenging the status quo, but rewriting it. Under her leadership, WIMN serves as a sanctuary to amplify underrepresented voices, share wisdom, and create a better future for content creators in the process. Sarah's journey and the work of WIMN hope to light the path for a future where every creator maintains ownership of their own content, unencumbered by the barriers of the past.

The WIMN is proud to amplify charitable initiatives in support of organizations which provide support to women and girls who have been subjected to violence, trafficking and/or homelessness. In honour of Women’s History Month, Sarah will be donating proceeds from WIMN merchandise to The London Abused Women Centre, in the community where she not only studied media, but became a media personality. Stay tuned for an announcement on where to purchase merchandise! In the meantime, Sarah encourages donations to the London Abused Women’s Centre HERE, and also to the Assaulted Women’s Helpline, a free, anonymous telephone line for women in Ontario experiencing any form of abuse.
